HOW MUCH LIGHT OUTPUT DO LOVING STRING LAMPSHADES PROVIDE?
The light given from all Loving String lampshades is a mood light, rather than a task light.
It provides a soft and gentle glow and is influenced by the coloured yarn it is made of. Lighter colours will allow for a greater light output, brighter colours will pop with the light turned on, and darker colours will provide a subdued light.
CAN I CHOOSE MY OWN COLOURS?
Yes! If you are looking for a lampshade in specific colours, Loving String offer a bespoke package where you can choose from a range of frame sizes and shapes, and pick up to six colours. Visit the Bespoke page for more information and to view the colours, or Shop right away!
WHY ARE SOME DESIGNS NOT AVAILABLE IN ALL SIZES?
Not all designs work well when being scaled up or down. The sizes available for each design are the sizes I think work the best!
I NEED HELP WITH DIMENSIONS!
Loving String lampshades work in inches, and dimensions are displayed with the following format:
Top diameter x Bottom Diameter x Height.
When choosing your required size, the width of the lampshade should roughly equal the total lamp base height, and the height of the lampshade should roughly equal two thirds of the lamp base height. For pendant lights, use the room size to guide you on the correct size. For example, a big living room can take a large size lampshade - a small size will feel lost and out of proportion.
ARE LOVING STRING LAMPSHADES SUITABLE FOR BATHROOMS?
Like most soft furnishings, Loving String lampshades should be placed in a dry environment. If being used in a bathroom setting, ensure the lampshade is not positioned where it can get wet or damp. In this instance, the fire retardant spray may become tacky to touch.
HOW DO I REMOVE DUST FROM MY LAMPSHADE?
View the Care & Info guide for full information, but the best way to remove any dust is by using a lint roller!
DO I NEED TO BUY ANY FITTINGS FOR MY LAMPSHADE TO FIT MY LAMP OR LIGHT?
Medium and Large French Drums have an inbuilt ‘Duplex Ring’ fitting inside, and depending on your light fitting, you will need to purchase either a Shade Carrier or Spider Converter. You will not need any additional fittings for the clip on, tapered, small size or XL lampshades.

CAN I RETURN MY LAMPSHADE?
Yes, Shop items can be refunded within 14 days from the delivery date. Please see the Shipping & Returns page for full details. Bespoke orders cannot be returned, refunded or exchanged.
ARE LOVING STRING LAMPSHADES FIRE RETARDANT?
Yes! When finished, each Loving String lampshade is sprayed with a fire retardant spray and then left to dry. This doesn’t alter the look or feel of the lampshade.
WHY CAN I ONLY CHOOSE UP TO 6 COLOURS FOR MY BESPOKE LAMPSHADE?
It is easy to get carried away with choosing lots of lovely colours, and sometimes hard to visualise what they will look like together. I find six colours is enough to create beautiful combinations without it feeling ‘messy’ or overpowering.
If you have chosen a Large French Drum, or XL Cylinder Drum, and would like more than six colours, please make a note on your order.
