Loving String is a small business creating handcrafted cotton yarn lampshades, designed with care and precision, and made to last. Loving String aim to create desirable objects which add personality to functional products, using modest techniques.
2. Acceptance of terms & conditions through use of website
Use of the Loving String website implies acceptance of the Terms and Conditions as set out here. If you do not agree to the terms and conditions of the website then you may not use it. The Loving String website is managed and operated within England and accordingly, the laws of England/Wales govern all matters, including the use of the website and the materials contained within it. If you choose to access this website from outside England/Wales you do so on your own initiative and you hereby agree that in the event of a dispute between Loving String and you, the laws of England/Wales will apply at all times.
3. Making a purchase and contract creation
The steps for placing an order on the website and the forming of a contract with Loving String, see the terms and conditions as follows:
You will be guided through the ordering process by a series of instructions. The order process will be competed once you click the “PURCHASE” button. You can review/amend your order any time before clicking “PURCHASE”. Unfortunately, orders cannot be amended once placed.
Once a firm order is placed Loving String will send you an order confirmation email detailing the product(s) you have ordered. Your order is an offer to buy a product(s) from Loving String and will only be deemed to have been accepted when Loving String have sent a dispatch confirmation email.
As your product(s) is/are shipped Loving String will send you a dispatch confirmation email, confirming the acceptance of your order. If Loving String do not/cannot accept your order for any reason you will be notified as soon as possible. No product will be shipped until full payment is made.

Loving String will not sell or rent your personal details to anyone else. Loving String may use this data to contact you with offers from time to time, however you may request for your personal details to be removed from the database at any time.

7. Pricing
Prices on the Loving String website include delivery charges unless otherwise stated. Every effort is made to ensure the complete accuracy of this website; however, some prices/details may change from time to time and it is possible that errors may occur. Best efforts will be made to rectify any errors as swiftly as possible, but Loving String cannot be held responsible for any losses incurred as a result.
8. Product availability
Loving String lampshades are handmade to order and therefore all products incur a lead time. The lead time is stated for each item and once a firm order has been placed, they will be made, and shipped accordingly. The shipping time is additional. Lead times are cumulative and therefore if you have purchased more than one lampshade, please expect an extended lead time.
9. Bespoke products
Loving String offer a Bespoke package available to purchase. See “Bespoke” page for full details including the process of ordering and lead time. Lead times are cumulative and therefore if you have purchased more than one lampshade, please expect an extended lead time.
10. Product information
Loving String endeavour to display all products as accurately as possible within the website. All products are handmade so from time to time, slight variations in colour, pattern and size may occur. Products are made to order with the materials available at that time. Products may be created in batches so Loving String cannot be held responsible for any variations in colour and finish between batches. Loving String will also endeavour to ensure that the product information is kept as accurate as possible. All items are subject to availability and in the event that a product is not available, you will be informed as soon as possible following your order. Loving String provide the lampshade only, and necessary non-electrical fittings, where purchased separately. Loving String do not sell any electrical fittings, accessories or adapters and therefore cannot be held responsible for any electrical element the lampshade may be used in conjunction with.
11. Website content
As well as the product information contained within the website, there is also other general information relating to the operation of the website and covering subjects that are intended to be of interest to Loving String customers. Every effort will be made to ensure the accuracy of such information, however Loving String cannot be held liable for any inaccuracies or errors in the content contained in any part of the website.
Loving String endeavour to present the most recent, accurate and reliable information on the site at all times. Unfortunately, there may incidents when some information contains incomplete data typographical error, or inaccuracies. Any error is unintentional and Loving String apologise if this information affects your order in any way. Loving String reserve the right to amend or update anything related to the website at any time without prior notice. Loving String retain the right to refuse or cancel any orders for products listed at the incorrect price (regardless whether the order have been confirmed by you and you have been charged).
12. Payment
Payment for Loving String goods is through certain credit and debit cards and via PayPal. Payments through the website are processed securely using advanced and up-to-date security-protected software. Your payment information is encrypted to ensure that it is fully protected and processed securely. Your payment details are not held by Loving String.
13. Shipping, Returns, Cancellations and Faulty Products
Loving String endeavour to ship your purchase(s) as soon as possible within the lead time. There may be occasions where the lead time may need to be extended, in which case you will be notified.
If you decide to return anything bought from Loving String (not applicable to bespoke products, see further details below), you must email within 14 days of your delivery date, with your intention to return an item(s). The returns process will be outlined via email, and all returns must be received back within 28 days from receipt of goods. All refunds are calculated minus a delivery fee. Loving String are happy to refund a product provided it is returned unused/ un-installed, in its original packaging and in a fully resaleable condition. If the product returned is not in a fully resaleable condition, Loving String reserve the right to refuse a refund on the item. Items that have been installed will not be accepted for a refund. Loving String cannot take any responsibility for any damages that occur in return transit. The costs to return any item (unless faulty or damaged) will not be covered by Loving String. Once the item(s) is received back, the total amount minus a delivery fee will be refunded to your original payment method within 14 days. Exchanges are not accepted.
You can cancel your order within 14 days from the date of when the order was placed.
Bespoke lampshades purchased via the Bespoke package cannot be returned, refunded or exchanged. The Bespoke package can only be cancelled prior to the consultation process commencing. Loving String endeavour for this process to begin within 7 working days.
In the rare event a Loving String lampshade arrives damaged, the customer is required to send photographs via email to hello@lovingstring.com. Loving String will contact you directly to resolve the issue and will be happy to replace the goods at no charge to the customer or alternatively, to refund the cost of purchase on return of the product. In most cases, the courier cost to return faulty goods will be covered by Loving String. As all Loving String products are made to order, replacement items may also incur a lead time of which you will be notified. Faulty goods should be notified to Loving String prior to being installed/ fitted within 7 days of receipt, and returned within 14 days of receipt. Replacement items will only be dispatched once the faulty goods have been received back.
It should be noted that liability is limited to the purchase cost of faulty goods and Loving String will accept no responsibility for any costs that may be associated with their supply. Please note that in the event that fixtures or fittings are not checked before installing and found to be faulty, Loving String will not be liable to cover any extra charges incurred apart from the free replacement. For goods being sent overseas by the customer (i.e. not by Loving String) any faults must be reported to Loving String before being shipped.
14. Cancellation by Loving String
Loving String reserve the right not to process your order if: there is insufficient stock to deliver the goods you have ordered; your delivery area is not possible; or one or more of the goods you ordered was listed at an incorrect price due to a typographical error or an error in the pricing information. If Loving String do not process your order for the above reasons, you will be notified by e-mail and funds re-credited to your account for any sum deducted by Loving String from your credit/debit card as soon as possible, but in any event within 14 days.
15. Product Maintenance and guarantees
Loving String products are hand-made to the best standards under a careful process of quality control. If a fault should arise, Loving String will either fix or replace your lampshade for up to 1 year from the date of purchase. Replacement is subject to availability of materials. If a yarn colour or frame size is no longer available then you will be offered an alternative or a credit against the original purchase.
Loving String won’t be able to cover:
Wear and tear
Items you have changed or repaired yourself
Accidental damage, or damage caused through misuse
Cosmetic damage
Natural changes in character and texture: variations are inherent in materials and finishes over time and should be expected
Items sold as seconds
Installation/removal costs
16. User restrictions – Intellectual property
All Loving String lampshade designs and patterns are protected by Intellectual Property laws in England/Wales. Unless otherwise stated all other content on the Loving String website is also subjected to trademarks, copyright and or intellectual property rights.
All website content is intended for personal use and not commercial use. Any use of website content beyond this requires written permission from Loving String. You may download, print or stage website contents provided you only use these materials for personal non-commercial use, do not post the content on any other website or social media. You are not permitted to alter any content. You obtain no rights from Loving String by using, printing or downloading content from the website for personal non-commercial use.
17. Third party Links
Certain content, products and services featured on the Loving String website may include links to third-parties. Loving String accepts no responsibility for any third-party content and is not liable for the information presented on these sources. Loving String are not liable for any harm or damages related to the purchase or use of goods, services, resources, content, or any other transactions made in connection with any third-party websites. Please review carefully the third-party’s policies and practices and be sure to understand them before engaging in any transaction. Complaints, claims, concerns, or questions regarding third-party products should be directed to the third-party.
